The 62nd and very last vessel built by the Hay yard. Chindit was for their own fleet and  was also the last steam driven puffer built by any of the Clyde yards.

She grounded at Dunoon in 1960 after breaking her moorings in a storm. The photograph below left shows her alongside at Dunoon afterwards and some structural  damage is evident to her bulwarks and rail. She was towed to Kirkintilloch for inspection with a view to being repaired but the underwater damage was just too bad and so she was towed back along the canal to Bowling to be scrapped.
