puffers & vics

Ardmaleish Boatbuilding Co Ltd. Bute

The Ardmaleish Boatbuilding Company at Port Bannatyne on the Isle of Bute never actually built a "proper" Clyde puffer but they are included here for two reasons: one, they built the replica "Mary Hill" and they are one of the few yards left on the Clyde which continues the tradition of building and maintaining the small ships which trade on local waters.

The yard has also recently completed building a small passenger and cargo carrying ferry, "Marnock", to serve the privately owned island of Inchmarnock some one and a half miles off the Isle of Bute.  The yard also specialises in vessel maintenance and repair and Caledonian MacBrayne's small "Loch" and "Island" class vessels are often to be seen getting some tlc on the slip there.

Their most recent new-build (2016) is the small 12 passenger cruise ship "Glen Etive" for the Holy Loch based Majestic Cruise Line..
