Built for James Gardner of Ballachulish and frst registered at Glasgow on 12th August 1876. Gardner relocated to 21 Clyde Place, Glasgow in 1888. Ownership passed to Duncan MacGregor Gardner in 1890, with the vessel being managed from then on by John Gardner. Presumably all three were related.
On 28th November 1897 while on passage from Glasgow to Salen on Mull with a cargo of coal she foundered to the west of the Isle of Kerrera in a gale reportedly blowing from WNW at force 9. The bodies of her four crew, including that of her skipper, D.McDougall, were washed ashore on the SW corner of the island.
I am indebted to Roger Eaton of Islay Marine for alerting me of the existence of this vessel, which I had not come across before.
