Built for Andrew S MacClelland of St Vinccent Street, Glasgow, and by 1900 in the ownership of J&J Hay of Glasgow, in which she remained up until her final MNL entry of 1940.
Not much else can be found in the records for her other than that she is reported to have sunk somewhere near Maryhill in the Forth and Clyde Canal in 1897. She was salvaged and returned to service. By strange coincidence one of Casear's crew, Henry McCann, who was enumerated on board her at Grangemouth for the 1901 census was the sole survivor of an explosion in 1897 on another Hay lighter, the "Hero ". I am indebted to Henry's Great Grandaughter for this interesting snippet of information.
